Touch Football Australia (TFA) is pleased to announce Orange Touch Association as the inaugural recipient of the Community Club of the Year award presented by Red Rooster.

The Community Club of the Year award recognises the outstanding contribution Touch Football clubs make to their local communities – fostering participation and enjoyment at all levels.

The award was presented live this morning on Channel 7’s Sunrise program to Orange Touch President, Cathy Goodlock, and Representative Director, Joel Begnell. The prize pack included $5,000 in cash and $1,000 worth of equipment generously provided by Red Rooster to put towards club initiatives.

“We’ll take this back to our grassroots - referees, coaching, and our players back home. It’s all about the community and making friends for life through Touch Football, Goodlock said.

From thirty-seven clubs nominated, a shortlist of eight national finalists were selected, with Orange Touch Association ultimately recognised the inaugural Red Rooster Community Club of the Year.

“Being able to recognise Orange Touch as the inaugural Community Club of the Year has been terrific. We’re really thankful to Red Rooster and their contribution to our sport that allows us to recognise our communities,” TFA CEO, Jamie O’Connor, said.

“We could’ve given this to any one of the 300 clubs that run Touch Football around the country for us. Hopefully, across a long period of time, we’ll be able to recognise everybody.

The ‘Orange Thunder’ were recognised for their impact on their local community, and their growth towards becoming one of the largest sports in the region with over 130 junior sides.

“Community is an important part of Red Rooster’s business as a born and bred Australian brand. We like to give back to the community and play our role in supporting them where we can,” Director of Marketing at Red Rooster, Ashley Hughes, said.

“They (Orange Touch Association) do a fantastic job within the community – locally supporting the juniors.

Tune in to TFA’s socials and Kayo Sports over the upcoming weeks as Orange Touch Association continues to be profiled as the winner of the inaugural Red Rooster Community Club of the Year.
