NITFKO Hero

Touch Football Australia (TFA) in conjunction with the Regional Enterprise Development Institute (REDI.E) are pleased to announce the National Indigenous Touch Football Knockout (NITFKO) returns to Dubbo, NSW this November. A popular and important community event, the NITFKO attracts teams and individuals from throughout Australia, playing a positive role promoting health messages and fostering physical activity among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in a fun, social atmosphere.

If the above wasn’t enough, a total prize pool of $10,000 is also on offer.

TFA Chief Executive Officer Jamie O'Connor said “The NITFKO is a key component of TFA's Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), leveraging the accessibility and popularity of Touch Football to create a sense of community, inclusive participation, enjoyment, and reconciliation.”

"With 9% indigenous participation rates in Touch Football, it is imperative that TFA drives positive change, takes a leading role, and makes a difference in the community."

REDI.E Managing Director Peter Gibbs said the event plays an important role in the Indigenous community.

“REDI.E is proud to partner with TFA again to present the NITFKO, which is such a significant date on the calendar for our sporting community. The aim of the NITFKO is community, inclusive participation, enjoyment, and reconciliation. Sport is such a great vehicle for bringing our community together and this event will be a practical demonstration of that." Gibbs said.

“We issue the invitation for Teams to bring that spirit to the event by filling up the roster with a minimum of 70% Indigenous players, what an amazing opportunity to play, build community and work towards reconciliation all on one weekend”.

Non-Indigenous participants are also welcome at the NITFKO with each team allowed to have up to 30% non-Indigenous participants.

Registrations are now open across Mixed Opens, Mixed Under 16’s and Mixed Under 12’s divisions.
