Touch Football Australia (TFA) is pleased to announce that the National Indigenous Touch Football Knockout (NITFKO) will return to Dubbo, NSW this November.

First held in 2017, the event plays a crucial role in promoting positive health messages and encouraging physical activity for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in a relaxed social environment.

The two-day tournament is a key outcome of TFA’s Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) and aims to create a sense of community, inclusive participation, enjoyment and reconciliation.

TFA Chief Executive Officer Jamie O’Connor welcomed the announcement.

“Touch Football has an indigenous participation rate of 9% so it is important that we use the popularity and accessibility of our sport to affect positive change, to lead and make a difference in the community."

“Events like the knockout enable us to connect communities and bring people together but it is more than that; our sport has a platform that can help close the gap and we believe it is important that we use it." O’Connor said.

Non-indigenous participants are also welcome at the NITFKO with each team allowed to have up to 50% non-indigenous participants.

Registrations are now open across mixed opens, mixed under 16’s and mixed under 12’s divisions.
