Government Voucher Advice

Read below for further information regarding the use of Government vouchers under the new National Membership Model.

Can I use state government sports vouchers to pay for my membership?

No, vouchers for your membership component can’t be used at this stage.

Vouchers can still be used for your local competition expenses which represents better value for families.

How do players register with their vouchers for the Association/Club component?

If you have players that are using their government vouchers for registrations, vouchers can only be used on the association/club component of levies.

In NSW, there is an option to claim your voucher at the point of registration as has been the case since the inception of MySideline. By submitting a claim this will remove the voucher amount from the total leaving the National membership and any balance of the association/club that is greater than the value of the voucher remaining.

In all other states and territories, the associations/clubs will need to redeem the vouchers offline through their current process. The options available to players include:

  • Pay the total amount at registration and get a refund for the association/club component once the voucher is claimed. Or;
  • Alternatively, the association/club can issue a discount code for the amount covering the association/competition/club fee which bypasses this fee leaving only the National and/or State Membership balance to pay at the point of registration. In this scenario the club will still need to redeem the money as per usual but no refund to the player is required.

Can I pay my national membership and local competition fees in the same transaction?

Yes, subject to how your competition is managed, national (and state if you live or play outside of NSW and QLD) membership can be paid alongside competition fees in one convenient, single transaction. Remembering national membership fees are only applicable the first time a player registers on or after 1 July each year.

If competitions are managed this way, then players may be able to use government vouchers to pay for their entire fee subject to the voucher total..

We have local sponsors, committee members or life members that do not pay to play. Do they need to be a member?

Yes, the national membership is applicable to all participants and critical to ensure everyone is protected when they play..

Any benefits to local sponsors, committee members, life members or others can be applied to local competition fees at each competition’s discretion.
