Touch Football Australia (TFA) is pleased to launch the new Community Touch Football Coaching Course, now available online through the NRL Learning Centre.
As the introductory accreditation in TFA’s Coaching Pathway, the course has been designed to equip community coaches with the foundational knowledge and skills to deliver positive, inclusive, and engaging experiences in participation environments across Australia.
The course was developed through collaboration with key stakeholders from Queensland Touch Football and NSW Touch Football, including current and former Australian coaches from both organisations, ensuring the content reflects the needs of today's community. Stakeholder feedback has played a key role in shaping the course, informing its module design and terminologies, providing a clearer and more inclusive entry point for those new to the sport.
Content for the online course was developed in partnership with Jeremy Kurtz from SportsEd Solutions and filmed at Redlands Touch Football Association. TFA extends its thanks to Scott Hogan, President of Redlands Touch Football, for hosting the production, and to Australian Emu #194, Adam Pryde, for his contribution to the course content. As a strong example of community growth, Redlands has more than doubled its junior participation base since 2021, while adult participation has also grown by more than 28% since 2022.
The Community Touch Football Coaching Course focuses on creating environments where participants can learn, develop, and enjoy the game. Coaches will gain an understanding of their roles and responsibilities, the fundamental rules and tactics of Touch Football, how to plan and deliver engaging training sessions, and the opportunities available to continue their coaching journey.
The course is available online through the NRL Learning Centre and marks an important step in strengthening coach education and supporting quality participation experiences across the country. TFA’s previous Inclusive Coaching Course is also now available in the NRL Learning Centre, providing All Abilities facilitators with the knowledge and understanding to deliver inclusive programs.
