Touch Football Australia (TFA) has opened its appointment process for national officiating head coach roles, continuing its commitment to building a world-class officiating pathway that identifies, develops, and supports referees from emerging talent through to elite international representation.
Key points include:
- Position descriptions and responsibilities have been developed for three roles to ensure referees are supported to the highest quality while ensuring depth, continuity, and high performance on the national stage.
- The three advertised roles are: Masters and Appointments Head Coach, High Performance Officiating Head Coach, and Upgrade and Development Head Coach.
- Head Coach positions will be filled through an open application process, with appointments to run through to the 2028 Touch World Cup.
Application process:
All interested and qualified applicants for Head Coach roles are encouraged to apply. The application timeline is confirmed as follows:
- Notify program participants and key stakeholders: 10:00am Monday, 25 May 2026
- Publicly advertise positions and process: 11:00am Tuesday, 26 May 2026
- Close of applications: 9:00am Monday, 22 June 2026 (4 weeks)
- Interviews and Assessments: Late June 2026
- Appointments recommended to the Board: Early July 2026

- Cover letter addressing the key criteria outlined in the relevant position description, including responses to the following two questions:
- Outline your strategic vision for the relevant Australian Officiating Program you are applying for up until the 2028 World Cup, including the key priorities and actions you would implement to drive sustained national success, considering the capability of both referees and referee coaches.
- How would you build and maintain a high-quality officiating environment that reflects the cultural standards, behaviours, and values of TFA and the national programs, while developing those around you?
