Touch Football Australia (TFA) and Touch Football South Australia (TFSA) are proud to acknowledge Bill Sheeky and Stella Vagenas from Demons Touch Football Association for their decades of service to Touch Football.
Based in South Australia, Demons Touch Football Association celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2025, a milestone built on the support of players, volunteers, friends, families, and supporters. At its recent Annual General Meeting, Demons recognised two of its most dedicated contributors, awarding Life Membership to Bill Sheeky and Stella Vagenas.
Long recognised as a family club, Demons has seen several generations take to the South Australian fields, including children and grandchildren, highlighting the special and inclusive nature of community sport. Bill and Stella’s recognition reflects the contribution of volunteers who have helped shape the club both on and off the field since its inception in 1995.
Bill Sheeky
Since its establishment thirty years ago, Demons has grown and evolved from a local competition into a strong, family-oriented club with clear player pathways and a connected community, with that growth underpinned by volunteers.
Bill has been an integral part of that journey and a key reason the club has developed into what it is today, through his unwavering commitment, energy, and leadership. His contribution has never been limited to one role. Over the years, he has taken on whatever was required, from administration, marking lines, setting up fields, supporting teams and players, through to the day-to-day operational tasks that keep a competition running.
Beyond the operational side, Bill’s influence has been significant in shaping the culture of Demons as a family club, with strong participation across generations. His leadership and long-term commitment have been central to the club’s stability and growth, and Life Membership recognises his contribution in building both the foundation and future of Demons Touch Football Association.
Stella Vagenas
Stella has been a constant presence at Demons for over twenty years, serving on the Committee throughout that time while also playing, managing teams, and fulfilling the important role of Treasurer.
Her contribution has been critical to the club’s operations and long-term sustainability, having supported the introduction and ongoing growth of its junior and senior competitions. She has also played a key role in securing several sporting club grants over her years, which have supported uniforms, equipment, and the development of the Demons Trailer.
Stella has further contributed to the club’s involvement in representative pathways, including Northern Vipers programs, and helped position the club to provide financial support to players, with her diligence in managing club finances being a defining part of her contribution.
Life Membership not only acknowledges the length of Bill and Stella’s service but also the impact they have had on the club’s ability to grow and support its community.
TFA and TFSA are proud to recognise their contributions, which reflect the broader role volunteers play across the Touch Football community. Volunteers take on a wide range of responsibilities within clubs and are vital to their ongoing success and sustainability into the future.
