Touch Football Northern Territory (TFNT) has today announced the transition of Palmerston and Rural Touch Association from a centrally managed competition to a community-managed model, following stakeholder feedback gathered as part of Touch Football Australia’s (TFA) Strategic Plan development.

Following an extended tour of Touch Football communities from TFA Leadership, spanning capital cities and regional locations, and reinforced support from the Northern Territory community, Palmerston Touch will transition away from an office-managed competition, with its operations now managed by the Inferno Magpies Touch Football Club.

Inferno Magpies, the largest Touch Football association in the Northern Territory, will assume control of Palmerston’s operations and become the Territory’s fourth affiliate, alongside Katherine, Alice Springs, and Gove.

Palmerston Touch was TFNT’s third-largest operated competition in 2025, registering 347 participants. TFNT welcomes the Inferno Magpies as they apply their passion and dedication of Touch Football to grow the sport in the Palmerston area throughout their transition.

TFNT and TFA will work closely with the Inferno Magpies to support governance and operational development as they progress through the first twelve months of the transition.
