Touch Football South Australia is proud of our Under 18 Girls team for their outstanding efforts and growth throughout the 2025 National Youth Championships (NYC).
This year’s campaign highlighted the continued development of our female pathway, with 8 returning players from previous 18s campaigns, 5 transitioning from last year’s 16s program, and 1 debutant from the 15s program. The group showed great maturity, teamwork, and resilience across the week, both on and off the field.
Unlike past years, the team enjoyed a rain-free tournament but faced a new challenge in the hot and humid 30-degree conditions, which tested endurance and adaptability. The first four rounds included strong opposition from some of the nation’s top programs, which provided valuable learning experiences and set the tone for a strong finish to the tournament.
Across the back half of the rounds, South Australia found their rhythm, recording four wins (one via forfeit) and showcasing great attacking combinations and defensive pressure. The team qualified for the Alliance State Final where they faced a talented ACT side that featured an Australian 18s representative. Despite a tough result, the girls displayed grit and teamwork until the final whistle.
A massive thank you goes to all the players for their effort and commitment across training and the week of competition. Each athlete demonstrated growth throughout the campaign and can be proud of their performances. Thank you also to the families for their ongoing support and for helping make this experience possible.
Touch Football SA also extends a special thanks to our coaching group of Joel, Zahli and Janelle for their dedication, leadership, and ability to connect with the playing group. Your guidance played a key role in helping each player continue to develop their game.
