TFWA is thrilled to announce a new addition to the team - Rory has joined us in the newly created role of Referee Development and Operations Coordinator.

Originally from Perth and a former student of Ursula Frayne Catholic College, Rory has recently returned to Western Australia after spending the past 20 years in Ireland, where he built a distinguished career in sports development, coaching, and operations. His experience spans national sporting bodies including Munster Cricket Union, Clare GAA, and Setanta College, where he led athlete development programs, coordinated matchday logistics, and contributed to strategic planning and compliance.

Rory holds a First-Class Honours MSc in Sports Management from University College Dublin, with research focused on organisational strategy and performance systems in elite sport. His strategic advisory work has supported clubs such as Bohemian FC and Hockey Ireland, helping refine their long-term planning and performance frameworks.

As Lead Development & Engagement Officer with Munster Cricket Union, Rory oversaw the growth of school programs and youth development initiatives through engaging formats like Smash It, It’s Wicket! and CricHIIT. He also served as a coach educator with Cricket Ireland and tutored skill acquisition modules at Munster Technological University and University College Cork.

In addition to his operational expertise, Rory has refereed Rugby Union at Under 16 and Under 18 levels, bringing valuable on-field insight to his new role. Rory will lead referee development initiatives, support competition delivery, and work closely with stakeholders to enhance the quality and consistency of officiating across the state.

There is no doubt his experience and background will contribute greatly to the success of our team and the whole touch football community. You'll already see Rory out on the field with the Super League season as he steps straight into action in his new role.
