Dear Participants,
Touch Football Australia (TFA) would like to thank you for your resilience, adaptability, and positive spirit throughout today’s play under challenging conditions.
After closely monitoring field conditions and working in consultation with the stadium and grounds team, TFA has had to make the difficult but necessary decision to reduce the number of games being played for the remainder of the tournament.
Despite the best efforts to preserve field quality, ongoing deterioration throughout the day – exacerbated by additional rainfall – has made several fields no longer safe for use. The welfare and safety of players, officials, and staff must always be our top priority.
This decision has not been made lightly. We recognise and sincerely acknowledge the disappointment this may cause, particularly for teams who have travelled long distances to be part of this event. Our intention was always to provide a full and fulfilling playing experience, and we share in your frustration that this has not been fully possible.
To manage field availability while prioritising safety, the following adjustments have been made:
- Finals games will proceed as planned (quarterfinals, semi-finals, finals)
- In two divisions – Women's 40s and Masters Mixed – the finals structure has changed, replacing qualification and elimination finals with straight semi-finals.
- All play-off games outside of the above are cancelled.
We deeply appreciate everyone’s cooperation and flexibility in responding to field changes and match reassignments. Your understanding under these circumstances is genuinely valued.
TFA remains committed to delivering the best possible experience for all participants under the circumstances, and we will continue to provide timely updates should anything further change.
Warm regards,
Touch Football Australia
