Perth Kiwi Womens 12 def Perth City Womens 1

In a fixture which has been dominated by the Perth Kiwis Womens team since its inception in 2021, the Perth City team stole the shield off them last year in 2024. In the 2025 fixture, the Kiwi team came back with a point to prove, winning the game in an emphatic fashion, in what could only be described a David vs Goliath game given the experience the Kiwi team boasted.

The game got off to a great start with Melissa-Jane Buchanan linking up with Andrea George to score the first try of the game for the Kiwis, the City team then hit straight back with a brilliant pass from Zarah Suamili to put Monique Dodgson over in the corner. After this, it was all class from the Perth Kiwi Womens, scoring 11 unanswered tries.

The Player of the Match, which was a tight race given the talent on show for the Kiwis, was none other than Tatyana Fisher, who has come off the back of an outstanding season with the Perth Brothers Women's Open team. Tatyana who not only put on an outstanding defensive display, also cut through the City line on multiple occasions, setting up 3 tries and scoring 2 for herself.

Perth Kiwi Men's 11 def Perth City Men's 10

With the Perth Kiwis Women's team getting the wood on the City outfit in the prior fixture the men would be looking to complete the double as City did in 2024. On paper the teams looked to be hard to separate, with both teams boasting a good balanced mixed of youth and veterans.

The men’s fixture started off in a tight back and forth affair with Aphirak (Lucky) Paul setting up both tries for the Kiwis. The City team clawed back momentum with Jaxson Halatutavaha starring in attack and ever reliable winger Gus Cullen putting on a defensive show on the City left edge. However, Kiwi veterans Lucky Paul and Trevor Twose skittled the City defence late in the first to head into the half time break 7-4. After the break, it was once again Trevor Twose turning the screws on the City team to put them up by 4. Although, in a similar fashion to the first half the City team were able to pull back momentum late to get within 1 try off the back of their stars from Northern Districts Caleb Roberts and Jaxson Halatutavaha. Although in the end the Kiwis proved to be too strong for the Perth City in the end.

The Player of the Match for the Men's game went to Perth Brothers flyer Corey Howe, who scored 2 tries, including the game winning try.
