Touch Football Australia (TFA) was last night awarded Gold Status at the 2025 Australian Pride in Sport Awards, acknowledging achievements around the inclusion of people with diverse genders and sexualities in Australian sport.

Held at the CENTREPIECE at Melbourne Park on 16 April 2025, the Australian Pride in Sport Awards brings together sporting identities and clubs across several codes around the country to celebrate LGBTQ+ inclusion in Australian sport. First held in 2018, the awards have become a key event on the inclusion calendar, honouring athletes, employees, volunteers, and organisations through the Pride in Sport Index (PSI). The PSI is the national benchmarking instrument for LGBTQ+ inclusion within Australian sport, guiding national sporting organisations with best practices and identifying opportunities for future improvement.

At this year’s awards, a record fifteen sporting organisations were awarded Gold Status, including the AFL, Cricket Australia, NSW Rugby League – and TFA who achieved Gold Status for the third consecutive year under the Pride in Sport Index.

TFA was marked one of the top three rated national sporting organisations within the PSI for its initiatives in the inclusion space, including staff presentations as part of its strategic plan, a suite of digital guidelines, training and information, accessibility initiatives at national events, people and culture celebrations of days of significance, and media and event acknowledgement and support.

As Australia's largest social sport with over 700,000 participants nationwide, TFA is proud to continue to be a leader in the LGBTQ+ and inclusion space, creating welcoming and inclusive environments and making the sport accessible to everyone. TFA continues to take significant steps to create an inclusive culture throughout the organisation and will continue its mission to identify and address barriers that prevent the full access of LGBTQ+ people in our sport.
