Touch Football Australia (TFA), in conjunction with Touch New Zealand (TNZ), is thrilled to announce the return of the Open Trans-Tasman Series (OTTS), with the Touch Blacks set to face off against the Athelite Australian Emus at Ngā Puna Wai, Christchurch, from April 25 to 27, 2025.

For the first time since 2018, New Zealand will host this elite international showdown, bringing together the best Men’s, Women’s, and Mixed Open teams from both nations. Known for its fierce competition and fast-paced action, the OTTS is one of the most anticipated events on the global Touch calendar.

After Australia’s dominant performance at the 2024 Touch World Cup, the Touch Blacks are ready to defend their home turf and reclaim Trans-Tasman glory in front of their whānau and supporters. Hosting this prestigious event in Christchurch with the support of Christchurch City Council gives Kiwi fans the chance to witness world-class Touch live while providing players the opportunity to showcase their skills on home soil.

TNZ CEO, Joe Sprangers highlighted the significance of bringing international Touch back to Aotearoa.

It’s great to have international Touch back in New Zealand and in Christchurch. This is an amazing opportunity for our people to perform in front of their whānau on home soil," Sprangers said.

TFA Interim CEO, Greg Denny also expressed his excitement for the series, reinforcing the importance of this international rivalry.

We’re looking forward to heading over to New Zealand in the return of the Trans-Tasman in what will be a thrilling start to the new World Cup cycle, and witness the continued development of the international game,” Denny said.

Thank you to our friends from Touch New Zealand for hosting this event and bringing our international communities together. It’s exciting to reconnect off the field and reignite our on-field rivalry in what will no doubt be an elite contest.”

Set in Christchurch’s premier sporting venue, Ngā Puna Wai, this tournament promises to be a display of high-intensity skill, speed, and precision. With three games per day over the weekend, fans can expect high-quality action as the Trans-Tasman rivalry heats up once again.

Whether cheering from the stands or tuning in with the live stream, this is a must-watch event for all Touch fans. Stay tuned for team announcements, match schedules, and more as we count down to one of the biggest clashes of the year.
