Touch Football Australia (TFA) congratulates the Australian referee contingent who will make their way to England next week for the 2024 Federation of International Touch (FIT) World Cup.
In addition to the thirteen Athelite Australian Emus teams, 87 Australian referees are also attending the event which will be the largest FIT World Cup held to date.
Australian referees make up 50% of the total referee contingent – with 52 making their World Cup debut.
For some it will be an extra special family affair with multiple members officiating together in Nottingham, including:
- Michael, Zac, and Zoe Genrich – father, son, and daughter
- Victor and Steven Naumovski – father and son
- John and Alec Clark – father and son
- Amanda and Savannah Draper – mother and daughter
TFA Chief Executive Officer, Jamie O’Connor acknowledged the achievement of the Australian referees taking the field at the Touch World Cup.
"To be selected as a referee for the World Cup is an incredible accomplishment. It's the culmination of many years of hard work, commitment, and dedication towards officiating at all levels of our game”, O’Connor said.
"I’m sure all will make themselves and their families proud and we wish all of the Australian referees all the best.”
