Athelite Australian Emus Teams Announced

Touch Football Australia (TFA) is proud to announce the thirteen Athelite Australian Emus teams for the 2024 Federation of International Touch (FIT) World Cup, held in Nottingham, England from July 15 to 21. 

Returning to the world stage after a five-year hiatus, the Emus are looking to defend and retain their Opens and Masters World Champion titles won in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 2019. 

Ninety-one debutants will wear the green and gold for the first time, as well as seven coaching staff debutants, in the sports pinnacle international event.

The 2024 FIT World Cup will be the largest World Cup to date with team numbers increasing by 72% since Malaysia, a strong sign that the game continues to grow internationally.  

TFA CEO Jamie O’Connor congratulated all players and coaches selected to represent their country. 

“Representing your country and pulling on the green and gold is the ultimate privilege and I congratulate each and every one of those who have been selected to represent us at the Touch World Cup in July this year.” O’Connor said. 

“Whilst becoming an Emu is the ultimate privilege it is also the ultimate reward. A reward for countless hours of hard work, dedication, sacrifice, and commitment. We have set some rather lofty goals for this World Cup, and I have absolute confidence that every one of our people will put their best foot forward and do what’s required to achieve what we’re setting out to achieve.”
