On the 20th of January 16 teams competed in 3 divisions at McDonald Park in Mount Gambier. The sunny day saw the teams competing for a cash prize, along with the dash for cash where contestants were able to scoop and score a try in the attempt to win cash.

There were many exciting games throughout the day. The playoff for 5th place in the mixed social division saw the Inferno Magpies and the Warrnambool Sharks go into a drop off, resulting in the Magpies defeating the Sharks with 3 players on each side.

The men’s final won by AUTC against the B’ratz 5 tries to 3. The mixed competitive final was won by RMRKBL who scored 4 tries to AUTC Dark Blue who scored 2 tries. The mixed social division saw B’ratz mixed defeat Tiki Touch 7 tries to 5.

Although there was not a women’s division at lunch time we saw the women come together to put on 2 exhibition matches. These matches proved to be a great display of the talents of women from all teams.

As the day came to a close we congratulated the following people for their efforts. The mixed competitive most valuable player was awarded to Zahn Kaponga and Payton Ozols for the Male and Female category respectively. The mixed social competition saw Cooper Topp win the most valuable male and Anna Archie win the most valuable female. The male division most valuable player was Casey Reihana.

Lastly the Jim Smith Memorial Medal is awarded to a player with an excellent dummy pass, magic footwork and represents the spirit of the game. For the 2024 Your Podiatrist Cup the recipient of this award was Sonatane Tuakalau.
