Heading into its 31st year, the DoorDash National Youth Championships (NYC) has traditionally unearthed some of the best talent Australia has to offer. Here are a few star players to keep an eye on this tournament in the 18's Girls division!

Zara Halliday (Sydney Scorpions)

A crucial member of the successful 18's Girls side at the Asia Pacific Youth Touch Cup (APYTC) in May, Zara’s international experience will be instrumental to the Scorpions’ NYC campaign. A hard worker in the middle of the park, Zara will be a key member of the Scorpions’ attack, likely to be instrumental in controlling the team’s structure moving up the field. A true team leader, the Australian representative will be a strong presence in this side.

Coco Marsters (New South Wales Combined High Schools)

2023 has been a breakout year for Coco, with the young middle displaying incredible maturity for her age. Earning plaudits for her stand-out performances for the Cook Islands in May, Coco has already shown plenty of promise on both attack and defence with her never-say-die attitude! Whether it’s her exceptional playmaking ability, or extreme work ethic on defence, expect the young Cook Islands captain to further establish herself as a future Touch Football star.

Zali Chippendale (Hunter Western Hornets)

Vice-captain of the Mixed 18s Australian contingent, Zali’s leadership and calming presence will provide the young NSW side a massive boost heading into the NYC. With the confidence to improvise in attack and capitalise on opportunities with her excellent composure, the skilful link is expected to have a heavy influence on how the side operates.

Rhani Hagan (Queensland Secondary Schools Touch)

Over the past 12 months, Rhani has established herself as one of the most exciting attacking touch football prospects in her age group. Whether it’s her agile footwork close to the line, or bursts of speed from halfway, Rhani has proven to be dangerous anywhere on the field. She doesn’t shy away from the big stage, with exceptional performances in the Australian jersey this May, and in the 2022 NYC 18's Girls Final, ensuring the young Queenslander will be one to watch come the decisive moments of this year’s championships.

Elise Simpson (Australian Capital Territory Raiders)

Evident by eight tries to her name for the 18's Girls at the APYTC, Elise is a massive threat in open space. Exhibiting an abundance of speed, the young winger will be dangerous on either edge come the final week of September. Not only an effective finisher, but Elise has also shown herself to be a reliable defender, often handling herself well in one-on-one duels.
