2023 ACT NAIDOC Day Touch Football Carnival Wrap Up

The 2023 ACT NAIDOC Touch Football carnival, held on Wednesday 5th of July at Deakin Playing Fields, saw 29 public service departments competing for internal bragging rights, as a part of the ACT Governments NAIDOC Week celebrations.

The carnival was opened with a Welcome to Country presented by Ngunnawal Elder, Uncle Warren Daly, who later in the day presided over a traditional smoking ceremony.

 

Early competition saw some fiercley contested pool matches before teams were split into Trophy, Cup and Plate divisions to compete in the knockout finals series.

The eventual Grand Finalists in each were:

Trophy

ADF v Defence

Defence victorious 4-1

Cup

Health and Aged Care 2 v Australian Federal Police 1

AFP victorious 4-3

 

Plate

Infrastructure v Finance

Finance victorious 6-4
