Touch Football Australia (TFA) in conjunction with Major Partner, Red Rooster (Reds) have launched the Community Club of the Year program which aims to recognize and profile the contributions and role grassroots affiliates play within their communities Australia-wide.
The Community Club of the Year award will be presented to a Touch Football club that has fostered participation and enjoyment at all levels. The club will have become an integral part of their local community and shown innovation in its administration.
With over 300 clubs around Australia each deserving recognition, applicants will be shortlisted within their State or Territory first and foremost, with eight State or Territory winners announced. These winners will each be recognized and receive a $500 Red Rooster catering voucher for a club function of their choice.
These eight winners will then become the national finalists with the overall Community Club of the Year recipient to receive $6,000 in cash and prizes courtesy of Red Rooster and TFA to put towards further club initiatives.
TFA CEO Jamie O’Connor says the award is a great way to commend the efforts of local clubs throughout Australia.
‘The Community Club of the Year award allows us to recognize and celebrate the impact our affiliates have on their communities and the strides they make towards helping grow touch football. Grassroots clubs are the heart of our sport and embody what touch football is all about. We want to use this platform to shine the spotlight on the great things these clubs do for their community and our sport.’
Red Rooster’s Director of Marketing Ashley Hughes says it’s an honour for the brand to be sponsoring this program.
‘At Reds we believe in the power of sport to inspire, unite and transform communities. And as a national network of franchises, each Red Rooster restaurant is an individual small business owned and operated by a local proprietor. Not only do owners feed the local community, but they also employ locals. It’s through charity and sponsorships like this that these family-owned businesses can give back to the community. TFA’s Club of the Year initiative perfectly aligns with the values of Reds as it celebrates the achievements of clubs that have made significant contributions to their sport and their local community.’
Applications are now open and close July 31st. State and Territory finalists will be notified in August with the national winner to be crowned in later September.
