As we draw closer to the commencement of the Asia Pacific Youth Touch Cup, a plethora of fresh faces will have their chance to shine on the world stage when the Pain Away Australian Emus launch their campaign. In a sea of new talent, here are the players to keep an eye on this tournament.

18 Mixed – Maxwell Marsters

A team player, Maxwell's all-round ability will be crucial to the success of the 18s Mixed Emus. Apart of a young side filled with debutants, the Sydney Scorpion representative's team first mentality will be crucial for this team's success.

18 Girls – Mackenzie Davis 

It’s been a massive 12 months for Mackenzie Davis, including being named Player of the Final at the recent Inferno National Touch League (Women's 20s), and earning Player of the Series honours at the DoorDash National Youth Championships (18 Girl’s) and 2022 State of Origin Series (Women's 20s). Making her Emu’s debut, the speedy middle has shown incredible maturity for her age and will be a key leader for this team. Her agility and vision of the game make her a constant threat with ball in hand. An indispensable ability to control and influence the game, Mackenzie Davis will be crucial to the success of this side.

18 Boys - Samuel Sheppard 

The astute winger has already shown to be a massive attacking threat, leading the field with 12 tries at the 2023 Inferno National Touch League (Men's 20s). What makes his speed and agility so remarkable is his ability to utilize it on defence as well. His try saving touches and read on the game is just as impressive as his breakaway tries. Whether he’s chasing down a player or running away with an intercept, expect fireworks whenever Samuel Sheppard finds himself in open space.

Named Player of the Final in a losing effort at the 2023 Inferno National Touch League, Haratio Edwards has shown the confidence and composure to step up to the big occasion. Whether he is scooping from dummy half or waiting for the perfect moment to strike, the Sydney Mets representative is a constant threat with ball in hand. With an extensive passing skillset and immense knowledge of the game, the 20s Mixed side will be looking to Haratio for moments of brilliance throughout this tournament

20 Girls – Kiiahla Duff

After achieving success last month at Opens level, Kiiahla Duff will once again don the Green and Gold. The skilled touch footballer will look to add strike-power and speed to this dynamic Australian Emus side. Evasive and explosive with ball in hand, Kiiahla also possess incredible ability to create space and opportunities for her teammates. Look to Kiiahla's experience throughout this weekend as a key influence on how the Aussies play.

Coming off a strong Opens’ debut, Jardel Bob returns to the Pain Away Australian Emus youth program with a tonne of momentum. Through his dynamic footwork and remarkable playmaking ability Jardel has already proven the hype behind him to be justified. The confidence and composure he exhibits on the touch football field at his age is commendable, with his skillset only improving with every game he plays.
