2023 is going to be a huge year for Tasmanian junior players of Touch Football!

Our Junior State Cup is only 3 weeks away, and we expect 31 teams to be running around Prospect Park competing for the overall prize. Which players will announce themselves for the first time? Which club will dominate?

Our representative program this year is slightly different to previous years. We will be sending our under 12 state teams to the School Sports Australia championships in Darwin, 13th-18th August. These teams will need to be organised early, so teams will be selected immediately following Junior State Cup. If you want to be considered for selection, but you can't make it to the tournament, please let des.fogarty@touchfootball.com.au know before Wednesday 15th February. To keep the costs as low as possible, we will not be centrally arranging flights or accommodation for players; players will need to travel with a parent or guardian.

The under 14, 16 and 18 teams will again return to National Youth Championships in September. Coach appointments are days away from being announced, and we expect strong competition for places. Again, if you are unable to attend Junior State Cup but would like to be considered for selection, please contact des.fogarty@touchfootball.com.au prior to Wednesday 15th Feb.

As part of our state representative program, but not exclusively for players selected in state teams, we will be holding a training camp on 15-16 April. We will have a number of coaches (including from interstate) and support for the weekend, and we intend to cover a variety of different skills, targeted to each age group. More information will be released 4 weeks prior to the event.

Our School Series will return in August this year, with regional rounds commencing 14 August in Devonport, then in Hobart then Launceston. The finals will be held on 6th September in Launceston. Schools can contact their regional sports coordinators for specific information, or des.fogarty@touchfootball.com.au.

Finally there are plenty of opportunities for our junior referees and prospective coaches to get more involved in the sport in 2023, with courses and development events around the state throughout the year. Just keep an eye on our socials and webpage for more info.
