Touch Football Australia (TFA) together with Strategic Sponsors, Destination NSW and Coffs Harbour City Council today announced that the Inferno National Touch League (NTL) will continue to be held in New South Wales (NSW) and Coffs Harbour for a further four years.
The NTL tournament has a longstanding affiliation with NSW and Coffs Harbour with the event being held in the Mid-North coast region twenty-three times since the event’s inception in 1997.
Under the new partnership the 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026 NTL will be held in Coffs Harbour, NSW attracting an anticipated 20,000 visitors and generating $16M in economic activity for the state and region.
NSW Minister for Tourism Ben Franklin said “It has been a tough couple of years for regional tourism and hospitality operators and as we continue on our roadmap to recovery, events like the Inferno National Touch League are critical to reigniting our state’s visitor economy.
“Coffs Harbour is the gateway to a fantastic part of NSW with some of the most spectacular coastlines and breathtaking hinterlands in the country, so securing an event like this in a key regional centre ensures the whole Mid North Coast economic and social benefits."
“The NSW Government is committed to delivering large-scale national events in our regional centres like the Inferno National Touch League, to drive visitation across the state and achieve our goal of making NSW the premier visitor economy of the Asia Pacific.”
Coffs Harbour City Council Mayor, Mr Paul Amos said “We’re excited to extend our partnership with Touch Football Australia and secure the Inferno National Touch League for C.ex Coffs International Stadium for a further four years."
“Coffs Harbour and the Stadium have secured a place as a top-choice destination for elite sporting events from right across the country. Touch and Coffs have a long and positive history and we’re looking forward to welcoming the teams, fans and officials back to our amazing Stadium and the Coffs Coast.”
Speaking from C.ex Coffs International Stadium, TFA Chief Executive Officer Jamie O’Connor thanked all parties for their support.
“TFA is grateful for the continued support of the NSW Government and Coffs Harbour City Council. Coffs is the spiritual home of the NTL, so we’re delighted to be able continue this legacy." O’Connor said.
“The recent facility upgrades, accommodation options and accessibility make Coffs Harbour a highly suitable location for a tournament the size and scale of the NTL. We’re looking forward to calling Coffs Harbour home for four more years and achieving further event growth, increased visitation and positive economic outcomes during this time.”
The 2023 Inferno National Touch League is being held from Wednesday 8th to Saturday 11th March 2023 at C.ex Coffs International Stadium, Coffs Harbour.
