Touch Football South Australia (TFSA) is creating a pilot program involving an under 16 boys and under 16 girls division in the upcoming TFSA league.


Objective of TFSA League
Touch Football South Australia (TFSA) holds this series annually to provide both representative and development opportunities for affiliated participants, including players, coaches, referees, and officials from around South Australia.

The goals of the junior series are.

  • To provide a junior representative touch opportunity for players and officials
  • To unearth new talent
  • To act as an upgrade event for referees and coaches
  • To raise the profile and awareness of the sport in South Australia
  • To provide opportunities for coaching teacher’s personal development and bring back the skills learnt to their schools.

TFSAL juniors division will go through an expression of interest and the competition will be created to meet the demands, needs and the community

Under 16 Girls and Under 16 Boys

Rules
8th Edition Touch Football Rules will be used for all games.

Format
Games comprise of 2x 20-minute halves with a 5 minute half time break.

Competition Dates and Time
Matches on Friday Nights at 6:00pm – 6:45pm Friday nights
Length of Competition 4 Rounds + Finals 2022

Round 1: 11th November
Round 2: 18th November
Round 3: 25th November
Round 4: 2nd December
Grand Final: 4th December

Player Eligibility
Players that turn 16 in the year of competition or are younger would be eligible to play. Players that turn 17 in the year of competition will not be eligible unless dispensation is given.

Cost
$50 TBC

This looks to include:

  • Uniform Hire (Playing Shirt)
  • Insurance and access to Permit coaching
  • TFSA Administration including game management

Venue
City Touch Fields. Park 17, Corner of Greenhill Road and Beaumont Road, Eastwood. Both Greenhill and Beaumont Road offer ample carparking, while Beaumont Road is a side road with minimal traffic allowing safe drop off and pick up.

City Touch Fields are full size Touch Football fields with clubrooms, a canteen, male and female changerooms and toilets and free drinking water accessible at the facility.

The Grand final may be held at a different venue, this will be done inline with the Open aged competition as it will be a Sunday final. If teams are unable to fill teams due to the change in date, options would be provided for teams to participate.

Benefits of participation

  • Provide an educational experience for youth players through a Touch football competition with accredited referees who have been trained to facilitate a learning environment for players.
  • Access to a competition that is of a high quality which will help youth players who may have Touch Football as a sport within their curriculum.
  • Provide a social framework in which youth players can interact with other participants at different schools and areas within the state.
  • Provide an experience to youth players that encourages life long participation in sport and illustrates the inclusivity of Touch Football and how accessible it is. The nature of Touch Football gives a competitive and/or social opportunity for a student to participate and stay active and healthy after they have completed school.
  • Provide opportunities for TID for students wishing to gain selection in Touch Football representative teams.

Divisions may change to a mixed competition depending on team numbers.

Permits would be eligible to enter more than one team into a division. This may affect the timings of matches.

As the 2022 TFSAL Juniors division would be offered as a pilot program and TFSA will seek feedback from participants and various stake holders. Changes will be made to meet the demands of our community.

TFSA looks to expand the divisions to include both Under 18 boys and girls as well as Under 12 and Under 14 Divisions in future years. If you have a child that would like to participate in the U12, U14 or U18 aged competition please contact the office.
