Touch Football Tasmania (TFT) has today announced the dates for the upcoming Senior State Cup along with a number of new initiatives it believes will add significantly to the weekend.
Senior State Cup will be held at Launceston’s Prospect Park on the weekend of December 11 & 12. In the lead up to State Cup TFT will hold several officiating courses including a Foundation Referees Coach Course and a Level 3 theory course. Once again National referees coach Ken Golden will be on hand to conduct upgrade assessments for Tassie's referee contingent.
Adding to the tournament TFT will, after each Affiliate has named their Men’s & Women’s Opens teams, look to select a men’s and women’s Tassie Thunder Development team to participate in State Cup. The teams will have a youth focus as we seek to provide opportunities for our future stars to compete at the highest level possible as often as possible before heading to major Championships. TFT will look also to provide each of these teams with a guest Captain/Coach from the Australian Emus or Touch Premiership ranks.
Another big addition to the Senior State Cup weekend will be the inaugural Touch Football Tasmania Awards afternoon. To be held at Launceston’s Country Club following the final match (and time for a shower & change of clothes) the award afternoon will recognise and celebrate all the achievements of associations, teams and individuals throughout 2021. Awards will include Representative Team of The Year, Junior Representative Player of the year, Senior Representative Player of The Year, Referee of the year, the 2021 Senior & Overall State Cup winners. It is also envisaged that the final 2022 NTL squads will be announced on the day.
TFT will post the final nominees in each category prior to the event with the winner announced on the day. Tickets to the awards afternoon will be $20 and will be available to purchase via Mysideline in the very near future.
