Touch Football Australia (TFA) and Touch New Zealand (TNZ) have again been forced to postpone the Youth and Masters Trans-Tasman events. The proposed January 2022 event will be re-scheduled to April 2022 due to the ongoing uncertainty of international travel and the COVID pandemic.

TFA and TNZ remain strongly committed to hosting the respective Trans-Tasman events, with the Youth and Masters Trans-Tasman Series re-scheduled for 15th to 17th April, 2022 in Christchurch and the Open Trans-Tasman to take place in Newcastle between 22nd – 24th April 2022.

TFA and TNZ will continue to monitor international travel restrictions with both organisations’ hopeful of recommencing international touch football in the new year.

TFA CEO Jamie O’Connor looks forward to a time when the Emus and Touch New Zealand can go head-to-head again. “We can’t wait to resurrect the on-field rivalry with our neighbours from across the Tasman. In the meantime, we will continue to deliver opportunities via domestic events to ensure our Emus players are well prepared for international matches when they return to our schedule.”

Touch NZ CE Joe Sprangers expressed his thanks to TFA for their supportive approach to working through the issues of the past eighteen months, while looking forward to the next opportunity the nations can engage on the playing field once again.
