The Australian Pride in Sport Awards acknowledges achievements within sporting organisations, LGBTQ recreational community groups, coaches, role models, media outlets, and allies for their contribution towards greater inclusion of people with diverse sexualities and genders, in Australian sport.
In it's fourth year of the awards Touch Football Australia received Bronze level in the Pride in Sport Index (PSI). The Pride in Sport Index is the first and only benchmarking instrument specifically designed to assess the inclusion of people with diverse sexualities and genders within Australian sporting organisations and codes more broadly.
The Australian Pride in Sport Awards also recognizes those within the community for their efforts in making their respective sports more inclusive. Taking out the highly contested LGBTQ Ally Award was Touch Football Australia and Athletics Australia's Jane Russo.
Jane Russo has been an active member of the Touch Football community serving on the Touch Football Australia board and more recently having spent time as the chairperson of the South Australian SOAP.
