#YTT2020 Day 2 wrap-up

The 18s Mixed division saw the Emus’ only loss to the Kiwis yesterday, but this Aussie team came back today with a convincing 10-5 win, taking the division to a decider.

After a 9-2 Australian whitewash yesterday in the 18s Girls, New Zealand returned in fighting form on Day 2. The score was locked up at half-time, 3 tries apiece, but New Zealand started to fatigue in the second, Australia bringing it home 5-4 to win the game and the division.

The 18s Boys Emus had to fight pretty hard to take the win yesterday, but today after a night studying their first game, they took a big 9-3 win to take out the division.

It was another tight match today in the 20s Mixed. Oz started strong but NZ fought their way back into the match, making the Aussies work for it. Captain Tallis Stanhope referred to it as the hardest game he’s ever played.

The 20s Girls was nil-all at half-time, but whatever Australia’s coaches Paul Cobham and Leasha Thouard said during the break worked, because they came back with a try every minute at the start of the second half to finish 7-0. At which point Australia successfully took the series, having won 10 in 11 matches played, with only another 7 to go.

The 20s Boys saw a surprising result - after a 7-4 win for Australia yesterday, New Zealand took the win today. The Kiwis dominated the whole game, with a 1-3 score at half-time and 3-6 at full-time, making tomorrow's third and final game a division decider.
