New South Wales’ best Touch Football talent will be on display in Port Macquarie this weekend when they compete in the 2015 New South Wales Touch Association (NSWTA) State Cup.

235 teams will converge on the Port Macquarie Regional Sports Stadium and Tuffins Lane precinct, coming from all areas across the state for the three day event, which will be played from Friday, 4 December to Sunday, 6 December.
Teams will compete across 14 divisions, ranging from under 20’s through to over 55’s at the event. Over 4,000 players and officials will take part in the event, coming together to participate in one of the largest Touch Football events in the world.
Round games will commence on Friday morning, running through the weekend with the finals of the tournament to be played on Sunday afternoon.
Local side Port Macquarie will have eight teams competing across the weekend – Mixed Open (x2), Women’s 20’s, Men’s 30’s, Women’s 30’s, Women’s 40’s, Men’s 50’s and Men’s 55’s.
In the Open’s divisions, the Canterbury Bulldogs will be looking to claim back-to-back Men’s and Women’s Open titles in 2015 following their divisional wins last year, while the Murwillumbah Mavericks will be hopeful of consecutive Mixed Open titles in 2015.
Port Macquarie-Hastings Council Mayor, Peter Besseling said “As proud partners with the NSW Touch Association, Port Macquarie-Hastings Council is thrilled to be once again welcoming over 4,000 participants and officials to the 2015 NSW State Cup this weekend.
“This event is a significant driver of visitor demand and expenditure, injecting over $3.8 Million into the Port Macquarie-Hastings economy and providing local business an early boost prior to the commencing of the Christmas holiday season,” Mayor Besseling said.
NSWTA General Manager, Dean Russell said the organisation is looking forward to the event.
“Once again we are really pleased to be back here in Port Macquarie for the State Cup. The 2015 event again sees an increase in numbers and we are very pleased to be bringing over 10,000 people to the region.”
