180 teams from across Queensland will take to the fields at Hervey Bay Sports Complex, from Friday, 5 July through to Sunday, 7 July when they compete in the 2013 Queensland Touch Football Junior State Cup.

It will be the third consecutive year that the Junior State Cup has been held in Hervey Bay and commences a new five year deal for the event to be held in the area.

The teams will compete across a total of 10 divisions, ranging from Under 10’s to Under 18’s in both Boys and Girls divisions.

Teams from over 25 affiliates will compete at the event, with teams travelling from across the state.

Local affiliate, Hervey Bay will have nine teams competing in the event in the following divisions – 10’s Boys, 10’s Girls, 12’s Boys, 12’s Girls (two teams), 14’s Boys, 14’s Girls, 16’s Girls and 18’s Girls.

The event will start at 9.00am on Friday, 5 July.  Round games will continue until Sunday morning, before finals commence, with grand finals to take place at the following times on Sunday:

-       2.25pm: 18’s Girls, 14’s Boys, 12’s Boys, 12’s Girls, 10’s Girls

-       3.10pm: 18’s Boys, 16’s Girls, 16’s Boys, 14’s Girls, 10’s Boys

In what was a tight contest last year, the Gold Coast affiliate was named the winners of the 2012 tournament, after taking out one division grand final and coming in second place in two others, a performance they will be looking to repeat in 2013.

In a sign of the competitiveness of the Junior State Cup, no less than six of last year’s 10 grand final matches were decided by just one touchdown.
