Queensland Secondary Schools Touch (QSST) have ended New South Wales Combined High Schools' (NSWCHS) stranglehold on the X-Blades National Youth Championships 18's Girl division.

QSST won the girls final 5-2 after an impressive defensive display.

It was QSST’s first NYC victory in the girls division since 2009 after they were the bridesmaids for the last two years.

QSST captain Charlotte Caslick, who opted not to play State of Origin because she wanted to win the NYC with her mates, was over the moon with the win.

“It is the best ever, I have never been so excited,” she said.

“They are the best group of girls ever.”

Caslick was named the Player of the Final and the Series, and she showed why.

She made plenty of line breaks and had NSWCHS guessing every time she had the ball in her hands.

“We knew we had to win in the first five minutes and that’s exactly what we did I think,” the Australian Women’s Open representative said.

“We went out hard and we wanted it more than them and we showed them.”

The first 10 minutes of the match both sides were strong in defence as neither of them could convert opportunities into touchdowns.

Chloe Cheney was the first to score for NSWCHS but Ashleigh Kearney scored a minute later for QSST.

Two more touchdowns to QSST through Brooke Walker and Madeline Sargent gave QSST a 3-1 lead at the break.

The Queenslanders continued to hold NSWCHS at bay while they scored at the other end.

Jordan Lovejoy scored QSST’s fourth touchdown and when Sargent bagged her second two minutes from time, the game was good as won for the 2009 champions.

In the Community Final, Central Queensland Bulls defeated state rivals South West Queensland Swans 9-8.

South Australia Heat won the Developing State Final by defeating ACT Pirates 7-5.
