New South Wales Combined High Schools (NSWCHS) and Queensland Secondary Schools Touch (QSST) are on a collision course for a final showdown in the girls division at the X-Blades National Youth Championships.
Both teams won their respective pools and remain undefeated throughout the tournament.
NSWCHS went up and against South West Queensland Swans in the final round; the winner would finish on top in Pool A.
The two-time defending premiers won the match 14-3.
They will play Central Queensland Bulls in the first semi-final tomorrow at 8am.
The Swans will take on QSST in the second semi-final.
QSST had the bye in the final round but were never in danger as their nearest rivals the Bulls finished six points behind.
The rest of the standings in Pool A saw Brisbane City Cobras finish in third spot after winning both of their games today – 7-2 over the Sunshine Coast Pineapples and 5-1 over Western Tigers.
The Pineapples finished in fourth spot just in front of New South Wales Combined Independent Schools who were in fifth position.
The Tigers and Victoria brought up the rear of Pool A.
In Pool B, and apart from QSST dominating the group, the rest of the sides were very close.
The Bulls’ 11-1 win over Northern Territory sealed second spot for them as NSW Combined Catholic Colleges were hot on their heels in third spot.
NSWTA Development finished in fourth position, a fantastic result for the Edith Nathan-coached side.
ACT Pirates came fifth and South Australia were unlucky to finish sixth after pushing several of the bigger teams all their way today.
Northern Territory ended up in seventh spot and Tasmania came eighth.
Touch New Zealand’s two teams – the under 15s and under 17s – had three wins each.
The Kiwis are an invitational squad and are not awarded points for their wins.
Tomorrow the semi-final action in the 18's Girls division gets underway at 8am with the championships semi-finals between QSST and South West Queensland Swans, and NSWCHS and the Bulls.
The play-off matches will also be held at 8am tomorrow.
Brisbane City go head-to-head with NSWCCC in the play-off for fifth, Sunshine Coast Pineapples meet NSWTA Development for seventh spot, NSWCIS and ACT do battle in the ninth-placed play-off, Tasmania take on the Heat to determine who will finish 11th and Victoria go one-on-one with Northern Territory.
