Touch Football Australia (TFA) would like to wish all affiliates a Happy New Year and extend our best wishes for the year ahead. We also would like thank you for your ongoing commitment to providing the best possible experience to all Touch Football participants and the provision of our recognised pathway to participation.

This communication is to outline information related to the TFA National Insurance Scheme. All affiliated bodies contribute to what is a comprehensive scheme that benefits all entities involved.

The policy renewal process for 2009 is near completion and we will be providing updated policy information as it comes into operation in late January. This will include some important changes to the program which have increased the cover to all members while ensuring no affect to the per affiliate fee. While this communication will occur in due course, we felt it important to communicate the process for renewing a Certificates of Currency (COC) at this point to allow preparations and communication to occur.

For renewal on the 15th of January 2009 you must contact your local state office with a correct email address that you would like the COC to be provided to. If your Season 2 2008 (competitions commencing from July – December) Affiliation & Insurance Fees are up to date and your affiliate has no other considerable outstanding financial matter either at a state or national level then the COC will be released once the administration that needs to be conducted by the Underwriter has been completed.

It is expected that near, or slightly after the 15th of January your Affiliate Certificate will become available and will be sent to the provided email address. If you do not have your Certificate of Currency by the 20th of January, please contact your local state office. In the case of New South Wales and Queensland affiliates we will take advice from your state or regional staff on your current status, and they will inform you directly of their requirements in this area. Please note however that TFA provides the insurance cover and therefore must have the appropriate status confirmed.

Furthermore; TFA in the last 3 months has been working to release an ‘easy to read’ document outlining the overall National Insurance Scheme. As the 2009 negotiations conclude and the policy comes into effect, this will be released in February. We hope that this will assist administrators and or committee members to have more information available in this area. Provided for any new administrators and or committee members is a one page brief at the conclusion of this memorandum outlining exactly what a COC is, and some relevant information about it’s use.

If you have any questions or would like to follow up on your current financial status to ensure the renewal process is efficient we encourage you to contact your local state office or Marianne Maguire via email marianne@austouch.com.au or phone 02 6212 2800.

Again we thank you for all your work in 2008 as we look forward to working with you in 2009.
