Hot on the heels of the recent NSW Junior State Cup almost 1500 junior Touch Footballers will converge on the Glasshouse Sports Club on the Sunshine Coast, for the 2005 Queensland Junior State Cup from July 1-3.
The teams will travel from all around Queensland, with several new country entrants in 2005.
The competition is the largest Junior Touch Football event in the State and will bring the future of Queensland and Australia's elite teams to the Sunshine Coast.
Competition will be in the Under 11's, Under 13's, Under 15's and Under 17's in both girls and boys divisions, with the Gold Coast always one of the strongest teams at the tournament.
With several new country sides traveling to the tournament however, QTA organisers are hinting that there may just be the odd upset on the cards here and there throughout the tournament.
Games begin around 1pm on Friday July 1 and will start at 8am on Saturday July 2 and Sunday July 3.
Finals for the Under 11's will be held on Saturday July 2 and on Sunday July 3 for all other age groups.
ATA Tournament Director and IT guru Jon Pratt has refined the art of running our National Touch League and Under 18 Championships since 1997, as well as run several International events such as World Cups, Youth World Cups and International School events.
He will be traveling to Queensland to help with the smarter web program, the computer software that builds ladders, draws, keeps statistics and can publish minute by minute info for all those interested in the results of the Queensland Junior State Cup.
While at the event Jon will be helping to up skill and teach the Queensland Touch Association (QTA) staff about the program, how it works and how to use it to better service the Touch public during major events such as this.
He will also be able to work with the affiliates at the event, providing information on the software that's available for their weekly competition in their home regions.
The event has already gathered interest from local media outlets, including newspapers and radio, with advertisements and stories being run regularly.
ATA Media Manager Rachel Moyle, will be working with QTA staff in the lead up to the event, helping to promote the event further and push regular media releases and information to the Queensland media.
With the event drawing such a large number of participants from all around Australia this is another chance for ATA and QTA to work together in promoting the sport further to the Queensland public and developing the resources we use in running Touch competitions and tournaments.
It is fantastic to see such large numbers and interest in events such as the Queensland and also NSW Junior State Cup and promises much for the future of the sport in the states and at a national level.
