The ATA would like to offer their sincere condolences to the family and friends of Queensland Touch Footballer Sally Urquhart.
Sally was tragically killed on Saturday May 07, when the plane she was traveling in crashed near Lockhart River in north east Queensland. All 15 people on board were killed.
She played in the Brisbane Metropolitan Touch Association for seven years with Crushers Touch Club from 1996 - 2002 and won a Women's Open BMTA Premiership in 1996.
Sally was awarded a Service Medal from Crushers in 2002 and played in the Toowoomba Touch Association from 1996 - 1999 with St. Saviours & Mavericks (including 2 undefeated premierships).
She also represented Brisbane City Cobras at NTL and State Championship level in the Open Mixed Division and represented Queensland A in the Open Mixed division in 2002.
BMTA will have a minutes silence for Sally on Friday night before the Crushers Women play Uni-Rebels at 7.20pm.
Crushers teams will gather on field seven and anyone who wishing to pay their respects to Sally is invited to gather there for the tribute.
Plans are well advanced to strike a medal in Sally's honour at the end of the season, with BMTA looking at a "Best Team Player" award to honour someone in the association who plays, as Sally did, with passion, loyalty, courage, dedication, determination and above all sportsmanship - someone who is the heart beat of their team.
