Commencing Your Season

Below is an Affiliate Competition Timeline which will help assist in planning your season.



Finals of Previous Season or 10 Weeks Prior To Competition Commencing

  • Finalise conditions of entry/season information for upcoming season
  • Contact State Office for assistance with online registration set-up
  • Update information on Website, registration forms and social media platforms
  • Send out season information to team contacts from previous season
  • Promotional & activation dates confirmed
  • Fields & venues booked
  • Key stakeholders advised (council, sponsors, state office).
  • Plan referees course for new referees


8-6 Weeks Prior To Competition

Weekly Engagement & Promotion via:

  • Phone call to previous season players and team contacts
  • Contact referees from last season
  • Social media posts (daily)
  • Promotion posters in community
  • Registration activations at local shopping centres & sporting grounds
  • Appoint & Confirm the seasons ground managers & referee director(s)
  • Book Referee course venue


4 Weeks Prior To Competition

  • Order any merchandise, team uniforms, footballs etc.
  • Continue with phone calls to last seasons players
  • Continue social media posts
  • Contact local referee association (Rugby League/Union) regarding referees
  • Confirm referee course venue
  • Plan managers/team contacts meeting


3-2 Weeks Prior To Competition

  • Continue with phone calls to last seasons players
  • Continue social media posts
  • Run or help coordinate referees course (if you aren't running the course attend to meet the new referees)


1 Week Prior To Competition

  • Contact all non-returning players and teams. Ascertain why they aren't returning if they are not.
  • Send out competition draw and welcome message to all team contacts.
  • Keep registrations open
  • Upload fixtures to website
  • Appoint referees
  • Hold managers meeting


Competition Starts Week 1

  • Final checks
  • Ensure grounds are dressed and safe to play
  • Deliver week 1 of the competition.
