To the Victorian Touch Football Community
On Sunday November 8, further easing of restrictions was announced for Victoria. Our sport has seen a number of hurdles in 2020 and our members have met each with optimism and resilience.
Although November 22 has been marked as the date community contact sport can resume (restrictions pending), there remains to be a number of events that have been impacted by COVID-19. TFV has sought the guidance from Sport and Recreation Victoria, Touch Football Australia and Victorian clubs to discuss the impact on the 2020 Victorian Touch (VT) League Season.
After consulting with the before mentioned parties, the decision as been made that the 2020 VT League season will not run. The competition will recommence in the second half of 2021. This was an extremely difficult decision to make and we understand that our members may meet the announcement with disappointment.
A number of factors contributed to this final outcome, the primary being upholding the integrity and purpose of the Victorian Touch League. A number of concerns were also raised surrounding member safety and limitations with both individual and club preparation leading into the season.
In light of the above announcement, Touch Football Victoria will be hosting the Indomie Victorian Super Series from January 10 – February 28, 2021 at Elwood Park. This event will feature Men’s, Women’s, and Mixed divisions and will be exclusive to current TFV representative clubs.
Further information about this competition will be released in the coming days via www.touchfootball.com.au/vic and our Facebook page.
We thank our members for sticking tight through these unprecedented times and assure that this is a temporary change to our regular calendar of events. We are certain that this offering will provide an opportunity for our community to come together and lift each other up as we emerge out of life in lock down.
We look forward getting you back on the field. Any inquires regarding this change can be directed to firstname.lastname@example.org.
