Canterbury Bulldogs NRL club Chief Executive Officer Andrew Hill has been appointed as a Director on the Board of Touch Football Australia (TFA).
Hill has been a long-time ally of the sport of Touch Football, and was one of the people who championed the formation of a strategic alliance between the National Rugby League (NRL) and TFA, an alliance that was formally established in 2013 for the mutual benefit of both sports.
Andrew Hill replaces Todd Greenberg on the TFA Board. Greenberg has been a TFA Board Member since 2014. He will continue to work closely on advancing the alliance and the mutually-developed Non-Contact Strategy with TFA’s CEO Jamie O’Connor and executive team, who are based with Greenberg at Rugby League Central in Sydney.
TFA Chair Anita Hagarty said Greenberg had made a huge impact during his five years on the TFA Board and is looking forward to working with Hill. “Todd has been a driving force behind the growth of the TFA/NRL partnership and we sincerely thank him for his immense contribution,” she said.
“I couldn’t think of a better replacement for Todd. Andrew was the key instigator in the formation of the TFA/NRL relationship and I know he will be a strong contributor to the Board. We are very excited about his appointment.”
Hill spoke of the importance of continuing to grow the game of Touch Football in this country.
“Firstly, I’d like to thank the Board of Touch Football Australia for appointing me to this position. Having been heavily involved with the game of Touch Football over a number of years, I’ve seen how popular it is and the role it can play in the overall development of our game,” he said.
“After the creation of a strategic alliance with the NRL, the game has put itself in a strong position to move forward and it’s important that we capitalise on that position to continue to attract people to play Touch Football and Rugby League whilst finding additional opportunities for the sport.
“I look forward to joining the Board of Touch Football Australia and continuing to find ways to promote this outstanding game.”
Hill has been the CEO of the Canterbury Bulldogs since December 2017. Prior to that, he was CEO of the Rugby League World Cup 2017 and General Manager of League Integration and Development at the NRL. He has also held General Manager roles at the Parramatta Eels NRL club and the GWS Giants AFL club.
Hill has held numerous Board positions, including for the Asia Pacific Rugby League Confederation, the Rugby League World Cup and NSW Royal Life Saving Society.
Hill’s first official duties as a TFA Board member will be at next week’s NSW State Cup in Port Macquarie – to support his daughter who will be competing in the tournament.
On the TFA Board Hill will join another NRL-appointed Director, NRL Senior Manager – Government Relations Cassandra Lawry, as well as existing Directors Barry McNamara, Michael Rush, Rachel Baird, Neil Collins and previously mentioned Chair Anita Hagarty.
