Touch Football Australia (TFA) was proud to support the 2017 Touch of Life Corporate Day in conjunction with RSM Australia, Sennell and Touch Football ACT on Friday 13th October.
The event, in its second year was established to promote the work of Lifeline Canberra, specifically raising awareness of mental wellness and suicide prevention in the ACT region; an issue which impacts so many individuals in society.
The event held at Deakin Playing fields in Canberra, featured 17 teams representing a number of corporates from across the ACT region, with five additional teams joining the cause in 2017.
Whilst many teams simply enjoyed a sunny day out of the office for a good cause, RPS Project Management and Much More Than Money progressed to the final, with RPS Project Management claiming a 4-2 victory.
The real heroes however remain the Lifeline staff and volunteers and the day was ultimately about creating awareness as part of Mental Health Week and raising much needed funds for Lifeline Canberra.
The proceeds of this event will directly support Lifeline Canberra’s local life changing 13 11 14 crisis support and suicide prevention service.
TFA Partner Services and Sponsorship Manager, Tim Wyld was pleased Touch Football could play a role in supporting Lifeline Canberra “From an organisational perspective I’m pleased that our sport and staff could be the vehicle for the Canberra business community to come together and support such an important cause whilst enjoying themselves in the process. I thank everyone that played a role in coordinating such a successful day.”
Lifeline Canberra’s sole objective is to support people in crisis and save the lives of those experiencing thoughts of suicide. Each day the organisation has a number of dedicated staff and volunteers on call who help fight to save the next life.
In addition to crisis support, Lifeline Canberra provides numerous training and mental health awareness programs throughout the community. To find out more about Lifeline Canberra click here
